Absorb More Nutrients Juicing

Juicing helps the body absorb all the nutrients from the fruits and vegetables. This is one of my main reasons for juicing.  You’ll be able to absorb more nutrients from your fruits and vegetables than if you were eating them raw or cooked.

Juicing breaks down the fruits and vegetables, removes the fiber, thus making it easier for your body to absorb more nutrients.

This is important because according to experts, many of us have an impaired digestive system as a result of making poor food choices over the years. This limits your body’s ability to absorb all the nutrients from fruits and vegetables when eating them.

Juicers break down the fiber’s cell wall and release the nutrients, allowing your body to absorb more nutrients found in fresh fruits and vegetables. Juicers expel the indigestible fiber.

This isn’t to say that you should gulp your juice down. No, slowly drink your juice, almost chewing it and allow your saliva time to start the digestive process. Sipping or chewing your juice also sends a message to your brain that you’re eating, filling yourself.

Besides vitamins and minerals, fresh juice contains enzymes. Live enzymes! This is good for the body and it’s important to drink your fresh juice as soon as you can. Otherwise you’ll loose some of the living enzymes. I recommend drinking fresh juice within 20 minutes of juicing. Of course, if you’re like me, you’re going to make some extra for later. So store your juice in tightly sealed containers and keep it refrigerated.

You can add a wider variety of vegetables in your diet. Many people eat the same vegetable salads every day. This violates the principle of regular food rotation and increases your chance of developing an allergy to a certain food. But with juicing, you can juice a wide variety of vegetables that you may not normally enjoy eating whole. – Mercola

Spinach Carrot Apple Juice | Simple Recipes

As I’m writing this, I’m headed to the kitchen to make this recipe, spinach carrot apple juice. Spinach is becoming my favorite green vegetable. Great to juice and great to eat in salads or cooked.

I have some spinach leftover that I’m afraid is going to go bad, some carrots that are in the same condition and a big red delicious apple. So I’m juicing what’s available and later today I’m going shopping for some more fresh produce.

Spinach is a pretty good source of vitamin C and in a study I read about, spinach showed evidence of significant protection against the occurrence of aggressive prostate cancer. Good stuff, eh?

spinach carrot apple juiceCarrots have some good benefits too. Carrots are good for your vision and skin. Carrots are an excellent source of vitamin A. More good stuff for the body!

As far as apples go, did you ever hear the old saying, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”? Apples are one of my favorite fruits and go well into just about any juicing recipe to add a little sweetness.

This is off the topic of juicing a little. Have you ever tried stewed apples? Occasionally I have a stewed apple in the morning, because in studying Ayurvedic medicine a while back I learned stewed apples stimulate regular bowel movements. There are other benefits too. What a way to start the day! Believe me stewed apples really work. Try it three days in a row and see how you like it.  Here’s a link to a simple recipe and directions.

Kale, Peach and Apple Juice | Simple Recipes

I had some extra kale, peach and apple in my fridge, so I made this beautiful emerald juice. I love how kale looks when juiced. So beautiful! Don’t you agree?

Kale, Peach and Apple JuiceIf you’re like me then sometimes you have fruit and vegetables that need to be used up before they go bad.

Sometimes I buy too much at the grocery store right before I’m leaving town for a few days. I don’t know why I do that, but it happens. Then I think all of that stuff I just bought is going to get old. So what do you do with it? I juice it.

I don’t like letting things go to waste, especially good fruit and vegetables. These can be juiced and frozen if necessary. I’ve frozen juice in mason jars before and when thawed they are still very good. But remember, it’s always best to consume your fresh juice right away. Most people say within 20 minutes of juicing it.

Here’s a simple recipe I made with some kale, peach and apple. It’s delicious and so healthy. Kale is one of the healthiest vegetables around.

Here are just some of kale’s amazing benefits: High in calcium, high in vitamin C, high in vitamin K, high in vitamin A, has a good amount of Iron, anti cancer properties, helps to lower cholesterol levels, has an overall alkalizing effect on the body, great for detoxifying our bodies, high in chlorophyll and contains blood purifying properties.

Metabolic Cooking Smoothies

What are Metabolic Cooking Smoothies? I love smoothies, and who doesn’t. If you don’t like smoothies, you’re in the wrong place.

As you know, I’ve been reviewing the Metabolic Cooking program. I highly recommend this program to anyone who wants  to eat healthier, look better, feel better and/or lose weight. One of the main concepts of Metabolic Cooking is eating a diet higher in protein. Protein provides the building blocks for the body to build muscle. Protein also requires more energy from the body to digest, thus increasing your metabolism.

Banana Bread Smoothie Recipe

banana bread smoothieOkay, here’s a different one to try out, the Banana Bread Smoothie. This comes from the Metabolic Cooking program. I had to try this one because it uses cooked oats. I regularly have oatmeal for breakfast, so what better than an oatmeal smoothie.

I have tried smoothies in my Nutribullet Pro with oats added and they are delicious, but cooked oats! I had to try.

It is a very good and healthy recipe. You won’t be disappointed if you like oatmeal.

metabolic cooking boxsetSo what’s up with this Metabolic Cooking craze and what is Metabolic Cooking anyway? I had to find out for myself. As you may know I not only love juicing and making smoothies, but I also write about health and wellness.

I wanted to see for myself if this metabolic cooking craze is for real or not. There are so many diet plans out there and so much hype it’s hard to know what’s good. Let me tell you right now, this Metabolic Cooking program I got is the real deal. It’s not hype and it’s backed by solid research.

So if you want to eat healthier, look better, feel better or lose weight, I highly recommend Metabolic Cooking. It’s just a good common sense approach to healthy eating habits.

1. Make sure that you’re cooking with nothing but high quality protein sources. Eggs, chicken and poultry, lean red meat (lean beef or game meat which is a fantastic source of protein), fish, as well as pork are the main ones to turn to.

2. One of the most important foods that you must be taking in through your diet plan is low glycemic index carbohydrates.  Low-GI (Glycemic Index) carbohydrates are the ones you want to choose, not those overly processed, high-sugar, insulin spiking carbs that most people are eating.

3. Good fats are needed by your body to remain healthy and to function at optimal levels. Healthy fats are heavily involved in maintaining a healthy metabolic rate and will influence how well your thyroid gland functions.

I wholeheartedly agree with all of the above statements from the Metabolic Cooking Program and it is backed by solid research. (I might add though, my personal preference is to eat less meat, more fish and more fruits and vegetables.) There are plenty of good cooking recipes to be found and Metabolic Cooking uses smoothies in their program too! They know what’s good! Choose the recipes that suit your taste. If you don’t like pork, replace it with something else. You can choose and it works!

So to wrap this up let me say, this is not just a diet and it’s not hype. This is a health plan! Follow this plan and I guarantee you, you’ll be healthier, lose weight, look and feel better.
